Finding a counsellor can involve more than choosing the nearest practice. You may want to understand how someone works, feel comfortable talking with them and know what to expect before committing to sessions.

At Therapy Partnership, we offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults from Burford and the surrounding area. In-person appointments take place at our practice in Upper Rissington, with online sessions also available.

Whether you’re facing a particular difficulty or finding everyday life harder than usual, we offer a free 30-minute telephone assessment to talk about what you need and explore whether we might be a good fit.

What Would You Like Help With?

Sometimes there is a clear reason for seeking counselling. It can be a bereavement, a relationship under strain or a period of overwhelming stress. At other times, the reasons are less easy to explain. You might feel disconnected, notice the same difficulties returning or find yourself carrying feelings you usually put aside.

You don’t need to prepare a story or decide exactly what you want to change before speaking with us. We can start with whatever feels most important to you.

Our work is collaborative. We take time to understand your experiences, your relationships and the circumstances around you. Together, we can explore what is happening and what you would like to be different.

Counselling and Psychotherapy Near Burford

People come to Therapy Partnership for all sorts of reasons. Some are facing a particular difficulty, while others have spent years feeling that something isn't quite right.

We work with a range of experiences, including:

  • Anxiety, stress and burnout: When worry, pressure or exhaustion begins to affect everyday life.

  • Relationship difficulties: Whether you're struggling to communicate, feeling disconnected or trying to understand recurring conflicts.

  • Bereavement and loss: Finding space for grief, including losses that other people may not fully understand. You may want to come along and talk about a loved one, or work on ways of how to continue after loss.

  • Trauma and difficult past experiences: Exploring how earlier experiences may continue to affect your relationships, emotions and sense of self.

  • ADHD, autism and neurodiversity: Making sense of your experiences in a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming environment.

  • Difficult family relationships: Understanding boundaries, longstanding patterns and emotionally complicated family dynamics. Families can be really difficult, and trying to understand our roles within a family unit can be confusing.

You don't need to know which category fits you. We can explore that together during your initial assessment.

Taking the First Step

It's completely understandable to feel uncertain about starting counselling. You might have questions about how it works, whether it's right for you, or what you would even say in a first session.

That's why we offer a free 30-minute telephone assessment.

It's an opportunity to tell us a little about what's been happening, ask any questions you have and get a sense of how we might work together.

There's no obligation to book ongoing sessions. What matters is finding the right support for you.
