Counselling Near Stow-on-the-Wold

For many people, finding the right counsellor is about more than simply finding someone nearby. It's about feeling comfortable, understood and able to speak openly about things that might be difficult to share elsewhere.

At Therapy Partnership, we welcome individuals and couples from Stow-on-the-Wold and the surrounding villages to our counselling practice in Upper Rissington.

Our practice offers a private, welcoming environment where you can take some time away from everyday pressures and focus on yourself. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, bereavement or something that's harder to put into words, we're here to help you explore what's going on.

We also offer online counselling, alongside a free 30-minute telephone assessment where you can talk with us before deciding whether to begin therapy.

A Space to Talk, Away From Everyday Pressures

Sometimes it's difficult to put your finger on exactly what's wrong. You might be managing everything on the outside while feeling quite differently underneath. Perhaps you're exhausted, finding yourself caught in familiar patterns, or struggling with something you haven't felt able to share with the people around you.

Counselling offers somewhere to explore those feelings without judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.

Our approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. We won't tell you how to live your life or offer quick answers to complicated experiences. Instead, we'll work alongside you to understand what's happening, what may be contributing to it, and what you might want to change.

For people living in Stow-on-the-Wold, our Upper Rissington practice offers a private setting away from the demands of everyday life.

Counselling and Psychotherapy Near Stow-on-the-wold

People come to Therapy Partnership for all sorts of reasons. Some are facing a particular difficulty, while others have spent years feeling that something isn't quite right.

We work with a range of experiences, including:

  • Anxiety, stress and burnout: When worry, pressure or exhaustion begins to affect everyday life.

  • Relationship difficulties: Whether you're struggling to communicate, feeling disconnected or trying to understand recurring conflicts.

  • Bereavement and loss: Finding space for grief, including losses that other people may not fully understand.

  • Trauma and difficult past experiences: Exploring how earlier experiences may continue to affect your relationships, emotions and sense of self.

  • ADHD, autism and neurodiversity: Making sense of your experiences in a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming environment.

  • Difficult family relationships: Understanding boundaries, longstanding patterns and emotionally complicated family dynamics.

You don't need to know which category fits you. We can explore that together during your initial assessment.

Although we aren't based in Stow itself, we regularly welcome enquiries from people across the North Cotswolds who are looking for a comfortable and confidential space for counselling.

Sometimes having your therapy sessions a little away from home can be a positive thing. It can offer a sense of privacy and an opportunity to step away from familiar surroundings, even if only for an hour.

Coming to Counselling from Stow-on-the-Wold

Our practice is in Upper Rissington, rather than Stow itself. If you’re looking for counselling within the local area but would prefer some distance from familiar surroundings, we offer a private space for individual counselling and couples therapy.

You’ll find us at:

Therapy Partnership

Cotswold Business Centre

2 A P Ellis Road

Upper Rissington

GL54 2QB.

There is free parking directly outside and disabled access. Photographs on our Upper Rissington practice page show the building and counselling room, so you can get a feel for the setting before coming.

Individual and couples sessions last 50 minutes. When planning your visit, allow yourself enough time for the journey and, if possible, a little breathing space afterwards before returning to your day. We are about 10 minutes from Stow.

Your first conversation with us can take place from home: we offer a free 30-minute telephone assessment to discuss what you’re looking for, answer questions and explore appointment options. Online counselling is also available if you would prefer to attend remotely.

Taking the First Step

It's completely understandable to feel uncertain about starting counselling. You might have questions about how it works, whether it's right for you, or what you would even say in a first session.

That's why we offer a free 30-minute telephone assessment.

It's an opportunity to tell us a little about what's been happening, ask any questions you have and get a sense of how we might work together.

There's no obligation to book ongoing sessions. What matters is finding the right support for you.

You can choose an available assessment appointment using our online booking form.
